Medicine in Uzbekistan can make progress in the future, Indian Taj Pharmaceuticals’ CEO Dr. Ranvir Singh told Trend in an interview.

Dr. Singh stressed that as far as pharmaceutical manufacturing is concerned, Uzbekistan is far from having established production of complex pharma products.

“The state has local manufacturing; however, complex products are yet far from reaching the local manufacturing level, and make such products affordable. The appoarch of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health Care is determined to have local manufacturing and less dependency on imports,” he said.

From his point of view, the approach to bring foreigners for some leading positions in Uzbekistan’s health sector is a proper one, and, especially, Indians who share a very old cultural orientation with Uzbekistan from the time of Genghis Khan, Babur Shah era.

“Babur Shah, who was also founder and first emperor of The Mughal Dynasty in India, was born in Uzbek Andijan region and, coincidentally, Taj pharma unit will be in the same region,” said Singh.

He expressed satisfaction with Uzbek leaders to allow such projects in Andijan region, as, among other things, it helps the bilateral ties.

“Indians feel very closely associated with Uzbekistan and the trade and business goes on for decades; however, the Uzbek president and the prime minister of India have made the bond even stronger with business treaties.

Singh said the the core goal is to establish the Taj Pharmaceuticals Unit in Andijan region and launch manufacturing of special products such as as Hepatitis A, B, C treatments; Anti-Cancer products, as well as very critical medicines for local population.

He also expressed hope that with the launch of the plant, the generic medicine will become affordable for the Uzbek population.
